How I Fuel with The Feed
This year I am excited to announce that I will be using The Feed for my nutrition. I am extremely excited to be able to use The Feed for not only my racing and training, but also to optimize my day-to-day well-being.
As I have mentioned before, race nutrition can be one of the most important factors in having a successful race day. Sometimes it can be difficult to find brands that taste good, contain high-quality ingredients, and are easy for your body to tolerate. Over the years, I have tried many brands, some that I have loved, and others that have caused major stomach issues. After plenty of trial and error, I have found a few brands that really work well for me. For example, my gel of choice is the Maurten Gel 160, while my number one drink mix choice is the Amacx Turbo Mix.
Normally, with my sponsorships, you are not often able to mix and match brands but that is one of the best things about The Feed. The Feed offers both Maurten and Amacx, so I do not have to choose one brand over another. Instead, I can pick from multiple brands and find the products that work best for me on race day. Another thing I really appreciate is that The Feed offers more than just ride nutrition. They also provide a wide range of supplements, different types of riding gear as well as recovery tools. There is so much information available from other Feed athletes regarding nutrition in and out of racing such as what supplements are beneficial or other tips and tricks that can help with optimizing performance and recovery. I find this extremely helpful, with so much information available online from reviews to advertisements and comparison lists, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and it is hard to know what is necessary and what you can save your money on. The Feed does an amazing job of sourcing the best products and information for each individual to make informed choices that are best suited for their own fueling strategies.
Now I want to go over how I fuel using The Feed and what my favorite products are. Fueling can be quite personal for each person depending on how demanding a race is, how long the race is, your gender, your weight, etc. Personally, what works for my body and what my body can handle is between 80-90 grams of carbs per hour on race day and intense training sessions. On easier endurance days, I aim for about 60 grams of carbs per hour. But it didn’t happen overnight. It took plenty of trial and error. There were times when I under-fueled and times when I tried products that I simply couldn’t stomach.

Race day and training fuel!
